Naoto Shinada, the editor-in-chief of the specialized motorhome magazine 'Auto Camper', took on a journey using the Rocky 2 'N-VAN MV'. With his busy lifestyle, he decided on a brief getaway for two days and one night to escape the daily grind.
He was pleasantly surprised by the nimble handling of the N-VAN MV, experiencing its brisk performance on regular roads as expected. On the highway, he was reminded once again of the comfort of traveling using cruise control. Being able to enjoy the surrounding scenery is one of the appealing aspects of a light camper.
What stood out to him was the ability to immediately use the N-VAN MV as a 'base camp' upon arrival at the destination. The sensation of parking right in front of the fishing spot as a moving living space made him feel he could never go back to a regular car.
Inside the vehicle, thanks to the design of the N-VAN, he found enough space to stretch out comfortably at 182 cm tall. The front passenger door opens to 90 degrees, making it easy to get in and out, while also facilitating the loading and unloading of equipment.
He feels that this has been an opportunity to reassess the light camper not just as a downsized version, but as something specifically suited to its use in Japan through his hands-on experience. Though the ice smelt catch was unsatisfactory, he is considering a personal trip for revenge next time.
