The latest data from Sweden’s Caravan Industry Association (Husvagns och Husbilsbranschens Riksförbund, or HRF) indicates a strong upward trend in motorhome sales. In April 2026, 854 new motorhomes were registered, marking a substantial increase of approximately 40 percent from the 609 registered in the same month in 2025.

For the year 2026 thus far, a total of 1,887 motorhomes have been registered, a notable rise from 1,168 registrations in the corresponding period of 2025, which equates to a significant increase of 61.6 percent. The rise can partially be attributed to a high number of registrations in January and February due to compliance with new European exhaust regulations, as reported by HRF.

Despite the positive outlook for motorhomes, caravan registrations have shown a slight decline. In April 2026, only 215 caravans were registered compared to 248 in April 2025. Per Nilsson, chairman of HRF, highlighted the growing interest in motorhomes, noting that they are increasingly being used for various purposes, including holiday travel and sports events.

However, the caravan market appears more conservative, with customers often influenced by economic conditions, leading to delayed purchasing decisions. Conversely, interest in camping and mobile living is climbing, with significantly higher bookings at Swedish campsites this year, according to First Camp. As economic stability improves, there is optimism for the caravan market to strengthen gradually.
