Outdoorsy, a prominent peer-to-peer RV rental company, is stepping beyond its traditional RV marketplace, as announced at its inaugural Business of Travel Summit held last month in Austin, Texas. The company revealed plans to diversify into a broader mobility ecosystem that includes automobile rentals and the management of autonomous vehicle fleets.
The Summit attracted over 400 attendees, comprised of Superhosts, industry leaders, and partners, who engaged in discussions on how to gain a competitive edge in the coming years, particularly focusing on the roles that artificial intelligence and autonomous technologies will play in reshaping the transportation industry.
Following the Summit, Woodall's Campground Magazine interviewed Outdoorsy's Head of Growth, Bryan Rucklos. He emphasized that the company has evolved significantly since its inception, now encompassing multiple lines of business that support hosts in scaling their operations.
The firm has reduced its RV rental inventory by approximately 45% over the past year and a half to enhance quality, seeking to improve customer experiences by removing low-quality hosts from its platform.
Rucklos further explained that the reduction is part of Outdoorsy’s commitment to quality over quantity. The company aims to present a refined selection of high-performing inventory, ensuring a reliable and consistent experience for guests. He acknowledged ongoing demand for RV rentals, but noted that rising gas prices could impact RV travel.
In response, Outdoorsy is enhancing delivery services, specifically focusing on stationary delivery options, which allow customers to enjoy RVs without worrying about fuel costs. A promotion is currently available for free delivery, worth up to $150, with the promo code DELIVERYONUS26 until June 30, 2026.
