The Japan RV Association (JRVA) has decided to provide free loans of campers owned by its member companies as part of its support efforts for the Kumamoto earthquake disaster that occurred in the eighth year of Reiwa.
JRVA will loan two campers to a medical nonprofit organization in Kumamoto Prefecture and one camper to the Water Resources Agency, further backing local support activities. They have also revealed plans to sequentially expand appropriate additional support based on requests from local governments and aid organizations.
For the staff involved in recovery and support activities in the disaster-affected areas, securing accommodation and rest spaces has become a significant challenge. By offering a comfortable space while maintaining privacy, campers aim to reduce fatigue for supporters and ensure efficient support activities.
Campers hold a high mobility that allows for immediate use in disaster-stricken areas where infrastructure has collapsed, providing a quick evacuation option during aftershocks. Additionally, by creating private spaces, they play an important role in contributing to the mental care of evacuees.
In past disasters, the utilization of campers by JRVA has achieved remarkable results. They were effectively used during the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Kumamoto earthquake, and the Noto Peninsula earthquake, and this expertise is being applied to the current initial response as well.
