A group of over 20 van owners gathered in Leesburg, Florida, to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. This initiative followed their fun-filled participation at the Peace Love & Vans Florida event, which saw around 500 vans converge for a weekend of camaraderie and adventure.

Key participants in the volunteer efforts included travelers Matt and Karen Ball, Jim and Marnie Cree, and Liz Maillett, who coordinated the project. Deborah Wilson managed the camping arrangements, ensuring everyone had a fun and engaging experience at their campsite.

The group worked on a house, which was structurally complete but lacked utilities, performing various tasks such as painting interior walls and installing soffits.

The group utilized their vans for breaks and lunches amidst the buildup of the home. They camped at the Warren Willis Camp and Conference Center, enjoying amenities like free laundry and opportunities to bond over games such as Rummikub. The spirit of teamwork and community was evident throughout the project as the volunteers dedicated their time to assisting a future family.

Emma Walsmith, the storyteller behind this initiative, encourages fellow members of the Storyteller community to share their own adventures. The collaborative efforts exemplify the commitment of van travelers not only to adventure but also to positively impacting communities they visit.

This event highlights the importance of community involvement and the unique connections formed among travelers. As they create memories under the open skies, they also contribute to the development of homes for those in need.
