Poland to Greece via Slovakia, Hungary and Serbia

The route starts inside the EU, then crosses Balkan borders before re-entering the EU/Schengen area in Greece, so paperwork becomes a route dependency.

Do this: Build one document folder before leaving Poland: licence, registration, insurance or green-card proof, rental permission, passports or IDs and temporary-import evidence for non-EU legs.

There is no single payment product for this corridor; vehicle mass can change the rule set in Central Europe before Balkan toll categories take over.

Do this: Check Poland e-TOLL, Slovak e-vignette or eMyto, Hungarian e-vignette or HU-GO, Serbian category tolls, North Macedonian toll plazas and Greek operator tolls separately.

The main motorway route is clear, but mountain detours around Serbia, North Macedonia and northern Greece can make weather and equipment binding constraints.

Do this: Check GDDKiA, Hungarian roads, Serbian mountain guidance, North Macedonian road-network updates and Greek chain or mountain rules before leaving the main E-road line.

This is a multi-night route where lake shores, national parks, city parking and border approaches should not be treated as default motorhome overnights.

Do this: Anchor nights to Polish or Slovak formal stops, Hungarian campsites or permitted areas, Serbian authorised stops, North Macedonian lake-area rules and Greek campsites.

Fuel is manageable on the motorway spine, but camper-specific service and payment fallback options become more important near lake, mountain and border sections.

Do this: Reset water, waste, groceries, LPG, toll evidence, cash/card options and campsite backups before Budapest, before Serbia, and again before the Greek border.

The practical city risk is tight streets, air-quality checks, lake promenades and old-centre parking rather than one shared emissions sticker.

Do this: Use outside-centre parking or campsite transfers for Budapest, Belgrade, Nis, Skopje, Ohrid and Thessaloniki instead of following car sat-nav shortcuts.

June is the base plan, but the same corridor can become heat, roadwork, mountain-weather or winter-equipment constrained when dates shift.

Do this: Add slack for Polish roadworks, Budapest heat or air-quality restrictions, Serbian mountains, North Macedonian winter equipment and Greek chain rules if dates move outside summer.
