What to check

Overnight parking and forests

There is no general right to drive a motorhome into forests or camp anywhere; use campsites, legal parking, official motorhome areas and designated forest programme areas where rules allow.

  • The State Forests Zanocuj w lesie programme is for designated areas with rules and limits; it does not make forest motor-vehicle access automatic.
  • Respect local no-entry signs, protected areas, fire-risk closures and municipal parking limits.

What to check

Campsites and camper services

Use campsites, camper parks and authorised service points for overnight certainty, water and waste disposal.

  • Service coverage is improving but still uneven outside tourist corridors, so plan dump and water points ahead.
  • Book Baltic coast, lake and mountain campsites early during summer and holiday periods.

What to check

e-TOLL and motorway payments

The e-TOLL system applies to vehicles and vehicle combinations over 3.5 tonnes on covered toll roads, including many camper plus trailer combinations.

  • If the vehicle or combination GVW exceeds 3.5 tonnes, register and transmit location data with the e-TOLL app, OBU or ELS before using toll sections.
  • Vehicles and combinations up to 3.5 tonnes are not required to pay via e-TOLL, but some motorways can still have separate payment systems.

What to check

Clean Transport Zones

Polish cities may introduce Clean Transport Zones with local entry criteria, stickers or camera checks, and the rules can vary by city.

  • Check the relevant city council before entering a zone with an older diesel or foreign-registered motorhome.
  • Unauthorised entry into a Clean Transport Zone can be fined, so treat zone signage and local lists as route-critical.

What to check

Documents, licence and insurance

Carry licence, registration, insurance and rental documents; check B, C1 and trailer categories against the vehicle and combination weights.

  • Keep e-TOLL account and payment evidence available when the vehicle or combination is over 3.5 tonnes.
  • Confirm rental coverage for Ukraine-border, Baltic, mountain and gravel-road plans if relevant.

Winter and road-condition notes

Poland does not revolve around one national winter-tyre date for cars, but snow, ice, mountain roads and chain signs can shape winter motorhome travel.

  • Carry winter-ready tyres and equipment for mountains and rural roads even where a date-based tyre mandate is not the main rule.
  • Watch GDDKiA road-status, snow and roadwork information before long winter or holiday routes.
