Greece to Croatia by motorhome via Albania and Montenegro

This Adriatic-to-Ionian route leaves the EU, crosses two non-EU countries, then re-enters Greece, so vehicle and insurance paperwork should be ready for every border.

Do this: Confirm passport or ID, licence category, registration, insurance or green-card cover and rental border permission before leaving Croatia.

The corridor does not have one vignette model: Croatia, Montenegro and Greece each use route, operator or vehicle-category charging.

Do this: Price Croatian motorways, Montenegro's Sozina or Bar-Boljare choices and Greek operator tolls separately, then keep cash/card options for local parking and campsite fees.

The scenic line can be slow and exposed: coastal wind, narrow roads, rockfall, high passes and sudden winter conditions matter more than map distance.

Do this: Check bura, coastal wind, mountain road information and winter-tyre or chain requirements before choosing coast roads, Durmitor/Prokletije detours or high Albanian passes.

Croatian coast, Montenegrin parks, Albanian beaches and Greek ports all need local overnight discipline; a scenic lay-by is not automatically a legal camper night.

Do this: Book or confirm legal campsite-style nights near Dubrovnik, Kotor/Budva, Shkoder or the Albanian Riviera and the first Greek stop before the summer evening arrival window.

Camper-specific service density is uneven outside the main resorts, and summer queues can turn a short coastal hop into a late arrival.

Do this: Reset water, cassette, grey water, groceries, fuel and mobile data before Montenegro mountain detours, Albanian coastal queues or the Greece border leg.

The practical access problem is old-town geometry, beach approaches, protected-area roads and port parking rather than a single national low-emission sticker.

Do this: Use outside-centre parking, campsite transfers or taxis for Dubrovnik, Kotor, Budva, coastal Albanian towns and Greek ports instead of following car navigation into old streets.
