Winnebago has announced the release of its new Elora/Resa Type C motorhome, designed with a focus on simplicity and ease of use. Winnebago's Product Manager Chris Bienert and Product Design Manager Amelia Sheckler shared insights into how the company approached building this compact 20-foot, 4-inch motorhome, which is based on the Ram ProMaster 159-inch-wheelbase chassis.
The Elora/Resa highlights familiar features that enhance user experience and drivability.
The Elora/Resa has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 9,350 pounds, allowing for a carrying capacity of 2,223 pounds once weight restrictions were met.
Bienert remarked on the creative use of computer modeling to achieve a lightweight structure, which was verified through rigorous testing to meet Winnebago standards. "Once you put your six people in there and your 30 gallons of water, you still have over 1,000 pounds for your food, gear, clothes and more," Sheckler noted, emphasizing the motorhome's capacity for outdoor adventures.
In terms of pricing, the MSRP for the Elora/Resa starts at approximately $163,000, strategically positioned to compete with current ProMaster Type B motorhomes. The design includes features like active driving and crosswind assist to enhance safety and handling, with test drivers reporting positive experiences in various weather conditions, including strong winds.
Sheckler mentioned that while the Elora/Resa is designed as a three-season coach, the placement of the freshwater and gray water tanks under the vehicle contributes to a better ride by providing a low center of gravity. The motorhome also incorporates a 24-gallon fuel tank for a single-fuel system, which powers both the engine and the heating system, making it user-friendly.
Additional highlights include a large rearview mirror, ample cabinet storage with positive latches, and significant window space for an open feel. The vehicle includes modern technology features like touchscreen panels for monitoring power systems and tank levels. After extensive testing, production on the Elora/Resa has begun, with units expected to reach dealers by the end of July.
