Many vehicle owners neglect to check their vehicles' readiness before embarking on vacation trips, according to a new survey. Specifically, two groups of drivers demonstrate weak routines regarding these checks.

Arild Hansen, Managing Director of the Automotive Supplier Association (ABL), emphasizes the importance of ensuring that vehicles are prepared for summer trips to prevent accidents and breakdowns, thus enhancing safety for families.

A recent survey conducted by YouGov for ABL reveals that only about six out of ten vehicle owners undertake any additional checks on their vehicles before long journeys, such as vacation trips. Approximately one-third of respondents admitted they do not check their vehicle's condition at all.

When considering an additional seven percent who are unsure, it is evident that four out of ten owners could improve their preparation routines.

Hansen advocates for thorough self-inspection or a visit to a workshop for professional assistance to be a standard part of preparations for anyone planning a long road trip this summer.

He points out regional differences in vehicle checks, highlighting that residents of Oslo are the least likely to verify their vehicle's readiness, while individuals from Trøndelag and Northern Norway show more diligence in this regard.

Moreover, the findings indicate that diesel vehicle owners are significantly more cautious than average. In contrast, electric vehicle owners exhibit notably lax checking habits. Hansen notes a clear need for increased awareness among this group regarding vehicle maintenance.
