Campendium has launched RV PRO, a new premium annual membership designed to improve travel planning for RVers. This service includes features such as campground availability alerts, RV-specific navigation, and AI-driven trip-planning tools, which aim to simplify the RV travel experience.
The launch is particularly timely as RV travel is on the rise, with more than 52 million North American households expected to participate in camping in 2025, according to data from KOA’s 2025 Camping & Outdoor Hospitality Report.
The existing Campendium platform, known for its extensive database of over 50,000 campgrounds across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, as well as more than 150,000 verified reviews, will remain free to all users. Campendium RV PRO seeks to address common challenges faced by RV travelers, including sold-out campgrounds, navigation issues, and varying cellular availability.
One standout feature of the RV PRO membership is CAMPalerts, a text notification service that informs users when campsites become available at previously sold-out locations, including national parks. Another tool, Autopilot, utilizes data from 42 million RV trips to generate optimized travel routes based on user input.
Additionally, the RV-Safe Navigation feature tailors route planning according to the user's RV specifications such as height, weight, and propane status. This is intended to help RVers avoid low-clearance routes and weight-restricted roads.
Map overlays integrated into the service provide real-time traffic updates, carrier-specific cell coverage data, public land boundaries, and information on wildfire smoke along routes.
While the membership service is available now, Campendium plans to introduce offline maps in the future, allowing members to download routes and campground information for areas with limited or no cellular service. CEO Mary Heneen emphasized that RV PRO is designed to alleviate the challenges of trip planning, letting users travel with more confidence and enjoy their journey to the fullest.
Campendium said that the new RV PRO membership is already available and offers a free trial to new users. The platform currently supports a community of 750,000 RVers by providing campground information, trip-planning tools, and user-generated reviews throughout North America.
