The KIA PV5 represents a breakthrough in the electric camper segment for Alpincamper. With compact dimensions of just 4.40 meters, it is larger than a high-roof van, yet still offers plenty of space. Michi Zaiser, head of the Isar Outdoor Center, points out that the sales figures for the electric version of the Nissan NV200 have been unsatisfactory, leading to a focus on the KIA PV5.
Pricing for the KIA PV5 starts at €39,190 for the cargo version, while the fully equipped variant costs just under €55,000. According to Zaiser, the PV5 could benefit from the government purchase subsidy for electric cars, which would provide advantages for buyers. It surpasses competitors like the VW ID. Buzz in terms of loading volume and value for money.
The interior design and features of the PV5 are well thought out. It comes with comfortable seats that include heating and ventilation functions, as well as modern driver assistance systems and an intuitive infotainment system. The range is stated to be 412 kilometers, with a realistic range of about 300 kilometers. Fast charging is also possible, allowing for 80% of the battery to be charged in just 30 minutes.
The build quality and space in the KIA PV5 are also noteworthy: The living space is bright and spacious due to its straight walls and classic pop-up roof. Additionally, the kitchen provides ample space and equipment for short trips, including a refrigerator and an induction cooktop. Based on these features, the PV5 is classified as a serious electric camper for the camping market.
The ability to power electric devices through the V2L function enhances the overnight camping experience. The KIA PV5 thus represents a step towards sustainable electromobility, impressing even Michi Zaiser, who hopes for further developments in the vehicle.
